E came back last night for the holidays. Hip hip hip hooray!
So the Fab Four have been reunited for a Christmas Bonanza of singing and dancing and one-off concerts around the area for two and a half whole weeks.
Well not quite, even though there may be some singing and dancing going on. Mostly we’ll just be cooking, eating, reading, relaxing, sitting round the fireplace and talking. That’s what we do best when we’re all together.
There may be some little inconveniences however. Bags in the middle of the hallway awaiting unseeing feet. Shoes lying in every available free corner. Scarves strewn across sofas. Coats hiding the coat stand. Wet towels on the kitchen radiator. Dirty dishes on top of the dishwasher which never seem to make their way inside. Appliances being recharged using MY charger.
There will also be a lot more noise. The hairdryer blowing twice as much as usual. The hair remover whizzing overtime too. Music roaring from the bathroom. Phone calls to friends. The key in the door at six a.m. Shouts of ‘Mum!’ or ‘Dad! And lots of laughter.
But I will take great pleasure in ignoring the mess and not worrying about the noise because they simply mean that the missing piece of this little family is back. Our jigsaw puzzle is complete once more.
We are a very happy threesome during term-time. We are a very, very happy foursome now.
Oyez! Oyez! Oyez! E is home again, home again. Jiggety jig.
